TEN REASONS WHY ALGONQUIN PARK DESERVES ITS OWN SONG

September 30, 2009 by lilizohar

1.    Algonquin is relaxing as it is intense. It reminds us that both intensity and relaxation are necessary in life.

2.    Algonquin is invigorating. Even the fallen trees are budding with new life. Even one swim makes you feel younger!

3.    Algonquin is consistently surprising. Every moment is a new world. Change is a constant, beautiful dance.

4.    Algonquin is inspiring. Art is alive and thriving, from the intricate patterns on tiny wings, to the ancient grace of the Blue Heron’s flight.

5.    Algonquin is spacious. The vast skies, the open lakes, make space for our eyes and ears. The mind grows quiet. The body relaxes. The being grows peaceful.

6.    Algonquin is peaceful. The moon’s reflection on a lake so quiet, is calms your heartbeat to your optimal rhythm. Everything inside you softens.

7.    Algonquin keeps you on your toes. Moose o the highway! Black bear on site 204! Fire needs wood! Watch your step! Rapids! Black flies! Alive! Alive! Alive!

8.    Algonquin is stunning. The flaming red of a maple at autumn’s peak is upstaged by sunset’s reflection on the lake; colors so subtle they are nameless but never forgotten.

9.    Algonquin makes you strong. In a cold Algonquin Lake, water so pure it makes your head spin, 10 strokes are equal to 40. A 2 km hike undoes 2 months of stress and inactivity.  So strong, it does the work for you.

10.    Algonquin is delicious. You can’t bottle the smell of her woods. But whoah, is that the biggest turn-on on Earth!

Algonquin Park deserves a Song BECAUSE it has SUPERPOWERS

Algonquin Park  has Superpowers!
Anyone who’s been in Algonquin Park will testify to the fact that it’s a magical place. As rugged as the Park may be, everywhere you look, every moment of the day or night, there is something of great power and beauty to see.

Swim in one of its lakes and the water cleans you from the inside out; instant detox!

Gaze at any of its lakes, any time of day, rain, snow or shine, and your body relaxes, your mind grows calm, your nervous systems calms.  Instant spa experience!

Walk through Algonquin’s woods and the air will clean you and turn you on to smells that have been erased by the city, fragrances that cannot be bottled or sold. Purifying!
The trails in the woods make you strong instantly, and your body remembers its energy and youth.  Age defying!

Algonquin Park is so astounding it can natur-ify a metroholic in a single day!  Shatter existential angst in an afternoon! Melt away tensions in the blink of a moose!

Algonquin Park : Please don’t Sue me

Before i actually start blogging here, just a word to say that i’ll be posting  a lot of gorgeous photos of Algonquin Park, but let’s be clear: the PHOTOS posted here are NOT MINE .   I travel to Algonquin a lot, but for some eason i never pull my camera out. When I’m there, I’m just there. I’m pulled entirely into the moment, and give up on trying to capture the incredible sights around me.

Luckily, there are many fine photographers and lovers of the Park who are smart enough to photograph. THANK YOU!

So the stunning photos you see here, I found on the internet. I’m not very copyright savvy, but i’ve done my best to credit the photographers appropriately.

If you see a photo of yours up here, and i’ve done you wrong by posting it here, please let me know, and let me apologize for my ignorance rather than slapping me with some sort of lawsuit.

My purpose here is strictly to give everyone some idea of how incredibly beautiful Algonquin Park is.   Enjoy the images, as I have. but, like i always say, you haven’t really lived until you’ve stepped through the woods of Algonquin.
